We all know that plants purify the air and bring beauty into our homes. But I would like to present to you 4 types of plants, easy to grow, for any corner of the house depending on their function, feng shui significance and the amount of the air they purify. Depending on their position every species bring different type of energy, so here I will introduce you, how to use them the best way in order to improve the quality of your life and create beautiful and healthy environment, based on my studies in interior design and feng shui decoration.
REFRESH THE AIR = REFRESH THE ENERGY
1. CHLOROPHYTUM - KITCHEN
The chlorophytum or the so called “spider plant” is known to be able to clear the air of harmful substances in the room within minutes. In one day this plant completely cleans the air of all the pollutants.
It is useful to grow such a flower in a kitchen equipped with a gas cooker, which is a powerful source of formaldehyde. You can put additional filters in the soil that effectively remove the pollutants in the air. For example, activated charcoal in the pot greatly improves the cleaning effect of chlorophytum. But not only, you can also position it in the livingroom. Another positive thing is that it is not pretentious at all. It doesn’t need so much sun, just bright ambient light and it grows well near an east or west window. The watering should be abundant from spring to autumn and the soil should be kept moist.
FENG SHUI TIP
It reduces the number of harmful microbes. This plant recycles negative energy and makes it positive. It is best to keep it in the kitchen. And since the kitchen is the heart of the feng shui home and is vital to the health and wealth of every member in your family household, you can place plants on different surfaces, as long as they don't go all the way to the ceiling. You can place the plants in a southeast corner, either in a pot or a hanging basket, to attract wealth and luck.
2. TILLANDSIA – LIVINGROOM
The Tillandsia (also known as “air plant") is a plant that has very particular characteristics. Its leaves are spiny or without thorns, pubescent or in flakes, linear, lanceolate or filiform. And it is able to adapt perfectly to any type of environment. It thrives under direct sunlight. This low-maintenance plant grows without soil and can very well be stylized into a mounted floral arrangement or inserted in glass globes.
Tillandsias are pretty foolproof. With their native regions being warm and tropical, sometimes desert-like, they barely need any water. As epiphytic plants, they have no roots and absorb moisture through the leaves. When the weather is dry, it is recommended to mist your houseplant with lukewarm water from time to time. Original and aerial, it will maintain its beautiful appearance for months. You can put this beautiful plant in any room and create very scenographic atmosphere, but most importantly it will purify the air, without needing additional efforts for growing it.
FENG SHUI TIP
Place the plants next to a TV or a computer, in order to absorb the magnetic energy emitted by them.
3. ALOE VERA - BEDROOM
Aloe Vera: one of the best plants for improving air quality. This medicinal plant is a great addition to any home. Aloe has a reverse cycle, compared to most plants, and absorbs carbon dioxide at night, which we exhale and releases oxygen. This improves the room's air quality and our sleep reducing the stress and the anxiety. This plant is known as a ‘succulent’ – it needs very little watering as it maintains moisture within its leaves. The gel from these leaves can be used to treat minor cuts and burns, insect bites and dry skin. It is, therefore, a great plant to have around the house! Keep your Aloe Vera plant in a sunny place to ensure it stays healthy.
FENG SHUI TIP
Aloe Vera is useful for people with damaged biofield or with chronic diseases. Aloe purifies the energy in the building and its level increases. This flower acts as a shield, protecting every person from disease.
4. BAMBOO – BATHROOM
With its original appearance, the “happy” plant refreshes the interior, and the symbolism it carries makes it the preferred mascot for the home.
Bamboo will refresh the bathroom interior and is very easy to grow. It does not like direct sunlight and prefers moisture.
FENG SHUI TIPS
According to Feng Shui, hollow bamboo stems also have a strong protective function against the negative effects of the environment. They are capable of transforming adverse influences into favorable or completely neutralizing us.
Bamboo means rapid growth in all areas (career studies), gradual improvement of life, material well-being. Strong and durable bamboo symbolizes health.
According to the birch twigs, bamboo carries different messages:
2 stems bring love
3 stems bring happiness
5, 6 or 7 stems are for health
8 stems bring wealth
9 stems are for luck, success
21 stems bring prosperity to the whole family.
Do not buy or give away four-bamboo stems, as this is not considered good.
These are my advices for a healthy, harmonic dwellings. Take care of your surrounding environment the way you take care of yourself, because it reflects your mood, your mentality and respectively your physical condition.
